Abstract

The main purpose of the article is to point how the final redemption of the protagonist of the Oedipus at Colonus leads to the impossibility of subsistence of any of the previous tragic paradigms by opposing the climax built initially through the Oedipus the King. According to the thesis to be defended here, having his life consummated by divine grace, the figure of the tragic hero, in this crucial moment, foreshadows an identification with that notion of hieros underlying the Christian metaphysics of caritas dissolving the hybris as an essentially tragic element.
