Abstract

The Higher Education sector is the most sensitive and major department for the growth and development of nation in all the dimensions. The higher education sector contributes to the nation’s growth by disseminating the specialized set of knowledge and skills. The Economic, Social and cultural fabric of the nation takes place on the quality of the higher education sector. The efficient the Higher education system is, highly-developed the economy is, and hence both are mutually dependent on each other. Indian Higher Education sector has been undermined when it comes to the national and international competence level. The high rate of unemployability, lack of career-oriented education system, low gross-enrollment ratio (GER), less accessible higher education arrangements, poor faculties, less industry linkages, poor entrepreneurship skills development are some of the leading reasons for the failure of the Indian higher education system. This article discusses all these issues in-depth.
