Abstract

Activation of upconversion emission in visible region and emission in infrared region in tri-codoped (Er3+, Tm3+ and Yb3+ rare earth ions) zirconium titanate nano composites has been attained by synthesizing through solution combustion method. ZrTi1.4O4, serves as host matrix which offers lowest phonon energy at 870 cm−1. PL emission has been recorded by exciting the samples with wavelength of 980 nm in NIR region. X-Ray diffraction patterns confirm crystallinity of the composites. Morphological studies were performed by Field emission scanning electron microscopy. Primary colors, Blue (475 nm), green (520 nm, 530 nm, 540 nm and 550 nm) and red (650 nm and 670 nm) emissions in visible region along with IR emission peaks centered at 1531 nm, 1574 nm, 1646 nm, 1738 nm and 1793 nm were observed. Dominant red emission appearing in the PL spectra is regarded to be due to Multi phonon relaxation and cross relaxations.
