Abstract

Haemoglobinopathies are genetic hemoglobin morbidities marked by erythrocyte anisocytosis. Anisocytosis is measured by red cell distribution width (RDW), which is easily provided by hematology analyzers as a total blood count statement. In Sudan, the efficacy of RDW as a prognostic biomarker for hemoglobinopathies is limited and unsubstantiated.
