Abstract

A 68-year-old woman who was a never smoker and a nondrinker sought treatment at our clinic with a 6-month history of a tongue lesion with intermittent burning, exacerbated by acidic or abrasive foods. Less than a year before this appointment, a dentist considered a diagnosis of oral lichen planus (OLP) and strongly recommended biopsy of the lesion by a specialist. Magic mouthrinse and betamethasone ointment had been prescribed for symptomatic relief without improvement.
