Abstract

Recycling of SMC has been simulated by adding reground SMC scrap into new products. The full-scale tests showed that the reground materials could be incor porated into new SMC- and BMC-products using standard process equipment and with minor modifications in the formulations. Improved flexural strength, together with a slightly reduced flexural modulus, was achieved for SMC containing 10% reground material. The BMC material showed overall reduced mechanical properties when 30% reground material was added.
