Abstract

1. 1. A case of recurrent volvulus of the cecum associated with nonrotation of the midgut is presented. 2. 2. It is postulated that the recurrent, lifelong abdominal pain present in this patient was the result of chronic cecal volvulus. 3. 3. Two episodes of volvulus occurred and it is believed the second more complete volvulus was related to the adhesions produced by the first operation. 4. 4. Surgical correction of the anomalous condition has not been necessary in this case but will be recommended if there is recurrence of obstructive symptoms. It does not seem likely, however, that further trouble should develop since five years have elapsed since the last operation.
