Abstract
Recurrent syndesmotic diastasis following screw fixation for pronation-external rotation (Weber C) fractures is a known complication, however, the ideal management for revision reduction and fixation of the syndesmosis remains controversial. This article reviews the background of syndesmotic injuries, as well as recent aspects of management that have generated controversy. Particular emphasis is placed on syndesmotic stability, assessment of reduction, and various methods of fixation. Level of Evidence: Diagnostic Level V—review article, expert opinion.
