Abstract

Neuroretinitis refers to an optic neuropathy in which optic disc edema is accompanied by peripapillary or macular hard exudates. Most cases involve a single episode and have no associated systemic abnormalities. In rare instances, neuroretinitis may be recurrent and lead to progressive visual loss. We describe a patient with recurrent neuroretinitis who concurrently developed ulcerative colitis, the first report of this association.
