Abstract

A case of myxoma in a 36-year-old woman has been presented. The tumor extended from the premolar region as far as the angle of the jaw. It had been operated on twice previously by different surgeons. A part of the jaw was excised, followed later by a rib graft. Comparison of the histopathologic findings of the second and third operations indicated that there was a difference in the amount of collagenous fibers, such as various authors have pointed out previously. Special staining techniques were used to prove the presence of mucin and to confirm the diagnosis.
