Abstract

RATIONALE: NK cell deficiency is a rare primary immunodeficiency. Current research describes the clinical features of NK cell deficiency to include many recurrent infections. NK cell deficiency can be divided into three subgroups: absolute NK cell deficiency, classical NK cell deficiency, and functional NK cell deficiency. Previous cases included overwhelming bacterial and EBV infections, severe herpes infections, disseminated varicella infections, and recurrent HPV infections. The common feature of NK cell deficiency is an unusual susceptibility to acute and chronic herpes family viral infections.
