Abstract

The cell surface characteristics of vitreous mononuclear cells were determined in ten eyes with chronic idiopathic uveitis. Most of the cells had surface immunoglobulin, some exhibited phagocytosis; few formed E rosettes. This result suggests that most of the cells found in the vitreous of eyes with chronic idiopathic uveitis are B cells and macrophages; few T cells are present.
