Abstract

In this paper, rectangular meshed patch antenna with borosilicate glass substrate and silicon solar cell ground plane has been studied. The effect of solar cell ground plane on radio-electrical functionalities of the antenna comprehensively investigated. One prototype 7×3 meshed patch antenna has been fabricated and integrated on a typical silicon solar cell. Opto-radio-electrical measurements have been performed. Optical measurement shows 76% transparency for whole assembly (meshed patch and glass substrate). Gain has been measured about one dBi and measured bandwidth shows about 2.25% (10 dB) at center frequency of 2.77 GHz.
