Abstract

The paper presents the key elements of clinical examination in patients with symptoms of faecal incontinence. After ensuring positive atmosphere and intimacy, a thorough interview to collect medical history and physical examination should be performed in accordance with the principles of general medical diagnosis. In a medical history examination, it is particularly important to obtain information on past diseases and operations, current ailments and medications used. A physical examination includes viewing, manual examination, percussion and auscultation. During the entire examination, we give the patient a chance to express himself, and the doctor listens carefully to what the patient says. Their findings are as important in the diagnosis and treatment of faecal incontinence as specialist tests.
