Abstract

The problem of attracting children to engage in certain type of motor activity is becoming increasingly important in recent years. The competition for the recruitment and retention of the contingent of those engaged is becoming more acute. This encourages us to find means and activities aimed at popularizing table tennis among other types of motor activity of children. Purpose of the study – to analyse the influence of recreational exercises of table tennis on the popularization of the game among students. Materials and methods: 54 students of second course of Kharkiv state academy of physical culture participated in research. The following research methods were used: the analysis of scientific and methodological literature was conducted in order to determine the relevance of the problem of popularization of table tennis and the study of ways to solve it; questionnaire to determine the interest of students with table tennis; Statistical processing of information was carried out using the Data Analysis package of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Indicators of descriptive statistics (average arithmetic, standard deviation and error of average) were determined. Results: the results of the survey of students indicate low degree of their knowledge theoretical information regarding table tennis at the beginning of our study (5,38±0,46). The students showed high score (8,54 ± 0,30) in the statement a table tennis is an interesting game, but they showed low level of consent in the choose table tennis as an alternative to their sports (4,49 ± 0,38). After the pedagogical experiment it was established that the gaming exercises and mobile games with table tennis elements performed with positive emotions at high level significantly increased the students' knowledge of theoretical information about this game (p <0,05), strengthened the desire of students to engage in this type of motor activity in their spare time (p <0,05) and expanded their knowledge of the use of table tennis elements as entertainment and rest (p <0,05).
