Abstract

ABSTRACT Indium is becoming an important metal used in many electronic materials. Therefore, successful recovery of indium from various sources is critical and helpful in this fast growing industry. In this paper, recovery of indium from an indium/tin oxide (ITO) scrap by chemical precipitation followed by solvent extraction is presented. Since indium is far more reactive over the wide range of pH in solution compared to tin, indium can be successfully recovered with high purity, over 99.999% purity and high recovery by this method. The effect of pH, temperature and oxidation potential on the effective recovery of indium and tin are discussed and salient results are presented.
