Abstract

The recovery of white paper stock from waste newspapers using dissolved air flotation unit was studied. The most efficient deinking of the waste newspapers in terms of relative brightness of the pulp was achieved by using 6% commercial kerosene containing 0.5% CCl4, 2% water‐glass, 6% detergent and 5% borax (on dry paper weight basis) at room temperature, maintaining the pH of the pulp at 9.
