Abstract

AbstractThe feasibility of using crossflow microfiltration for the recovery of beer from tank bottoms is examined. The membrane pore size, the pressure, the feed solid content and the feed velocity are shown to be the most significant factors affecting the process performance. The process appears economically viable with recovery costing less than 3.4 p per pint of beer.
