Abstract

1. 1.| In vivo heating ld causes damage to flight muscle sarcosomes. As compared to unheated controls. State III respiration, RC1 and ADP:0 are all significantly lowered. 2. 2.|The process of repair of this sub-lethal heat damage was followed at 15°, 24° and 35°C. As witnessed by the return of sarcosomal performance to control levels, repair was shown to be very dependent on recovery temperature. It took about 6 days at 15°C, 2 days at 24°C and 1 day at 35°C. 3. 3.|Those results are discussed in relation to the damage caused and possible cellular repair mechanisms.
