Abstract

Hydro-mechanical power-split transmissions (HPSTs) are a kind of continuously variable transmission; HPSTs integrated with the hydraulic energy recovery and accumulation function are the most coherent selection to im-prove the energy efficiency of the garbage truck. With an accumulator located in the speed-increasing hydraulic converter of the HPSTs, it is possible to recover and accumulate energy during braking and reuse energy when starting, accelerating or using other technologies in the process of garbage collection and transportation. Some results of simulation research and analysis of the energy recovery and accumulation process introduced in this paper can be used as a scientific basis for the complete design of energy saving powertrain systems, quality, and environmental friendliness for garbage trucks. In this study, the results of the simulation and analysis of the energy recovery and accumulation process were reported. Our findings can be used as a scientific basis for the complete design of energy saving powertrain systems, quality, and environmental friendliness for garbage trucks.
