Abstract

In the present study, Al6061/Al2O3 composite coating was produced to repair the notched Al7075 substrate by cold spraying (CS) and laser assisted cold spray (LACS) technology. The preparation process and parameter selection of high-performance coating were discussed by combining simulation and experiment. Results showed that the LACS experiment guided by simulation results achieved high-quality bonding of single particle with the substrate. In addition, the tensile strength of samples repaired by LACS recovered to the level of original substrate, and the ductility was significantly higher than that of CS process. This is attributed to the introduction of laser irradiation heating, which improves the plastic deformation ability of particles and produces atomic-level metallurgical bonding between the particles. This study provides a possibility for the repair and remanufacture research of high-quality components, and has great development potential in future research.
