Abstract

We have performed reconstruction of the pelvic ring with proximal tibia amputated in hemipelvectomy for the metastatic pelvic bone tumor. Comparing the value of this procedure between the case with this reconstruction and the other with hemipelvectomy alone, it was found that the former case had better ability of weight-bearing at the end of the stump and had less degree of the scoliosis. It was therefore suggested that the hemipelvectomy with pelvic ring reconstruction had superiority to the hemipelvectomy alone in use of post surgical prosthesis.
