Abstract

The scalping forehead flap, first described by Converse in 1942,1 is one of the best techniques for total and subtotal nasal reconstruction. The flap has recently been used for the reconstruction of another mid-face area because of its characteristics, i.e., the color of frontal skin, texture, hairless skin, and reliable blood supply. This article introduces the technique and refinements of reconstruction for defects together with the nasal lining and the upper lip by using the distal part of the scalping forehead flap.
