Abstract

In two cases, heel defects with loss of both bony and soft tissue, resulting from gun-shot and mine explosion injuries, were successfully reconstructed using an osteocutaneous free groin flap based on the deep circumflex iliac artery (DCIA). The follow-up periods ranged from 8 to 17 months. Functionally useable feet were obtained in both cases.
