Abstract

The recovery of missing samples in amplitude-modulation and frequency-modulation (AM-FM) signals is a challenging problem. This study proposes an effective approach to reconstruct missing samples from AM-FM signals through accurate estimation of instantaneous frequencies (IFs) and instantaneous amplitudes (IA) of signal components. Experimental results indicate that the proposed reconstruction method achieves better performance, in the terms of mean absolute error between the reconstructed signal and the original signal, as compared to the state of art methods including time-frequency filtering method and modified orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm.
