Abstract

Summary The writer has tried to introduce the different methods of replacing deficient bucca by describing some cases of his own which show the difficulties that arise on the one hand from the extent of the defect, on the other hand from the different complications. Missing soft tissues should be replaced if possible by utilising the surrounding tissues, which always yield the best result. Only if this is impossible because of the extent of the defect should skin from more distant donor sites be applied by the tubed pedicle flap method.
