Reconsideration of Farming methods in ZHOU(周) times from the perspective of the ecological environment

Abstract

To re-examine the classical literatures and archaeological finds in the perspective of the ecological environment can find that the farming method had greatly developed in ZHOU(周) times: the land had evolved the distinction of “quan”(?) and “quan”(?), “me”(畝), during the course of land arrangement; sowing in drill has appeared; mature cultivation techniques and pest repellent and control technology had formed in farming practices. Influence by climate conditions, “quan”(?) is mainly used for drainage in Western ZHOU dynasty. The Zhou(周) people farming way was influenced, to a large extent, by the ecological environmental factors.
