Abstract

We propose an optimized structure of a tunable and reconfigurable microwave-photonics filter. The structure exploits the capability of a high-precision dynamic-gain equalizer (DGE) to modify the optical spectrum of the broadband light source of a slicing filter. Independent tunability and reconfigurability is obtained due to the optimization of the dispersion properties of the optical fiber line. An experimental demonstration is given that illustrates the versatility and efficiency of the setup. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
