Abstract
The article analyzes the PSF Report on the research funding system, research infrastructures and the links between research and the business environment in the Republic of Moldova. The recommendations formulated by the EU experts are discussed in the context of the national research situation and the conditions necessary to change the situation in the field. Awareness of the need for science for the Republic of Moldova is established as the essential element for implementing the recommendations and safeguarding local research.
