Abstract

We have found that the zero-phonon line of the donor exciton Ni [d7e] and its vibrational repetitions in the electroabsorption spectrum depend strongly on the composition of the solid solution ZnSe1−ySy:Ni (y⩽20%). Using the idea of an intermediate virtual {d8}* state, we interpret this on the basis of the adiabatic potential model as an interaction of the d7 configuration with the nearest-neighbor environment and nonradiative tunneling recombination [d7e]→(d8)*.
