Abstract
In vitro effect of high doses of α-Epo on CFU-E of patients with different anemias as auto-immune disease anemia (SLE) (6 cases) , MDS-RA (7 cases) and AA (9 cases) was investigated. 10 normal cases as control. The results revealed that CFU-E in auto-immune disease (SLE) , MDS-RA and AA was significantly lower than normals (P<0.01) . Levels of CFU-E in all groups showed different increase when the doses of a-Epo increased, and up to its highest level nearing or over the normal value as the α-Epo being 100U/ml. These data indicated that high doses of α-Epo could be overcoming the inhibiting action of auto-serum of SLE patients and stimulated proliferation of CFU-E in some MDS and AA patients. Key words: Recombinant erythropoietin; CFU-E; anemia.
