Zaphiropoulos, M.D., received his M.D. at the University of Paris in 1939, and his Certificate in Psychoanalysis from the William Alanson White Institute in 1951. He is currently an Emeritus faculty member, Emeritus Training Analyst, and Supervising Analyst in the White Institute's psychoanalytic training program, where he has served for the past 51 years. He has received the William V. Silverberg Award from the American Academy of Psychoanalysis; as well as the Edith S. Alt Distinguished Service Award and the Director's Award, both from the White Institute; and the Myer D. Mendelson, M.D. Award from the William Alanson White Psychoanalytic Society. He is a member of the editorial boards of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Psychoanalytic Dialogues, and Dynamic Psychiatry (The Journal of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Dynamic Psychiatry).
