Abstract

The mean lives of the first excited ~- and ~+ states at 808 and 1391 keV excitation energy in 47SC were measured using the recoil-distance method (RDM). The levels of interest were populated in the 44Ca(O(, py) reaction using 9 MeV 0( beams. The mean lives extracted from the p-y coincidence data were ,(808 keV, ~-) = 22 5 ps and ,(1391 keV, ~+) = 13 4 ps. These results are compared with similar prior measurements on other levels of interest in 47SC as well as with those in the other Sc isotopes, and are discussed in the light of the systematics displayed.
