Abstract
Recognition of isolated Chinese Words is examined, with more emphasis on diphones. Under nearly identical test conditions, speaker-dependent recognition rates were obtained as follows: (1) 76.3% for 59 Chinese phonetic units: (2) 95% for 40 monophones; and (3) 99.5% for 100 diphones. With three speakers, the recognition rate of 100 diphones become 94%. >
