Abstract

The aim of this paper is to develop and study the performances of a system of recognition and classification of Arabic fricative consonants. We developed under Matlab an algorithm that allows the calculation and the extraction of acoustic cues dependent on the energy distribution in the Syllables CV where C refers the Arabic fricative consonants and V refers to one of the three vowels /a/, /u/ or /i/. We then used the decision trees (J48) to classify these syllables. The obtained results show that this system allows a good classification of these consonants.
