Abstract

In the Alsace, the Jurassic is to be found in a complete section ranging from the Hettangian to the Lower Kimmeridgian. The palynological study of abundant material sampled from outcrops and drillings has yielded numerous spores, pollen grains, dinocysts and acritarchs. Thorough analysis of the successive assemblages shows a drastic change in their composition across the Aalenian-Bajocian boundary, where dinocysts dominant associations replace the Liassic spores-pollen dominant associations. Moreover, it helps outlining the stratigraphical evolution of the microflora through Jurassic times.
