Abstract
One of the important factors that determine the shape of musical history in a particular country is its government cultural policy. This influences not only the nature of the music itself, but also its social reception, functions, cultural meaning, and symbolism. With this fact in mind, this article examines the reflections and influences of the Rolling Stones phenomenon within the framework of communist Czechoslovakia. Based on the exploration of characteristic historical and cultural events this article confirms the exceptional status of the Rolling Stones in Czechoslovakia as a political band par excellence.
