Abstract
The reviewed book is a collection of papers prepared for a scientific conference organized by the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk, which took place on November 29–30, 2018. It consists of a short introduction by the editors of the book and three parts: 1) theoretical; 2) concerning the imposition of financial penalties on the basis of the provisions of selected acts; 3) devoted to the issues of sanctioning the behavior of public officials as part of disciplinary and order liability. The articles included in the study focus on several fundamental issues related to the border of criminal law and administrative law. These are: the concept of an administrative sanction and a financial penalty imposed by a public administration body by way of a decision; the reasons for the progressing application of administrative fines; the effects of converting criminal liability into administrative liability; an increasing area of the border of the above-mentioned branches of public law; standards of protection of the individual during the imposition of penalties by public administration.
