Abstract

Today, nearly one out of every eight dollars under professional management in the United States is invested according to strategies of sustainable and responsible investing (SRI), also known as socially responsible investing. This article provides a brief overview of sustainable and responsible investing in the United States, beginning with a review of its growth over the last 15 years. It explains SRI as an investment discipline, identifies key SRI strategies, and summarizes how and why institutional investors and money managers are practicing SRI today.
