Recent trends in metrology, quality and reliability education at the university level in Egypt (Alexandria University)

Abstract

Synopsis The sense of Metrology and Quality started in Egypt thousands of years ago (B.C.) since the ancient Egyptian and the Pharaone who initiated the Royal Cubit-the first Primary Standard of Length-as their Standard long time before civilization spread through out the world. In modern Egypt the sense of Metrology and Quality has again taken its right place since the 50's with the growth of industry and its development and the need for Quality, Reliability and Metrology. The objective of the presented paper is to give a survey of the actual picture present today in Egypt regarding the education of modern Metrology, Quality and Reliability in the Egyptian Universities with a particular reference to Alexandria University at the level of both undergraduate and post graduate studies for engineers in the Production Gngineering Department of Faculty of Engineering (Metrology and Quality Control Division).
