Abstract

Abstract Although asthma prevalence in the United States has been reported by a few studies, its trends after 2010 remain unclear. Therefore, we analyzed 2009-2018 data for 28,733 US adults from the continuous National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data to examine age-adjusted asthma prevalence and trends for overall population and by subgroup in recent years. We found that the prevalence of current asthma in US adults aged ≥20 years significantly increased between 2009-2014 and flattened out between 2015-2018. These findings highlight the needs for sustained attention to adult asthma prevention and control.
