Summary

Introduction

Malaria is one of the common diseases in Upper Assam, in the Lakhimpur district. From the report of the malaria cases during 2000-2011, Both Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium vivax occur in abundance, but Plasmodium vivax was the major parasite in the district, only for the year 2011, Plasmodium falciparum outnumbered the Plasmodium vivax cases. In 2009, based on the annual parasite incidence (API), four PHCs reported less than 0.5 cases.
