Abstract

Beside the well-known Giant Dipole Resonance in most nuclei an additional structure has been identified in the low-energy part of the electric dipole strength, which is usually denoted as Pygmy Dipole Resonance (PDR). The PDR has attracted strong interest in the last years in nuclear physics and has been experimentally studied using different approaches in the last decade. Among the other experiments the nuclear resonance fluorescence (NRF) method has played a pioneering role in the research on the PDR.
