Abstract
Super-GM has developed three types of 70 MW class superconducting generators (called model machines). On-site verification tests of the model machines were completed successfully in June 1999. World’s highest generator output (79 MW), world’s longest continuous operation (1500 hours) and other excellent results are obtained in the tests. Basic performance and reliability and operability of superconducting generators were verified through the comprehensive studies on the model machines. With the results, it is expected that fundamental technologies for a 200 MW class pilot machine are established.
