Abstract

Currently, two classes of drugs used against influenza virus are M2 protein ion channel inhibitors and neuraminidase inhibitors. With the outbreaks of pandemic influenza, seasonal influenza and highly pathogenic avian influenza and the rapid emergence of drug-resistant influenza trains, it is urgent for the discovery of new anti-influenza drugs. Recently, the studies on molecular mechanism that influenza virus entries into cells bring opportunities for developing new anti-influenza entry inhibitors. In this paper, the anti-influenza entry inhibitors, their mechanism of action as well as the entry process of influenza virus were reviewed.
