Abstract

A survey of the titanium alloys of greatest commercial significance and those in the pilot stage of development is presented. The alloys discussed include the alpha, alpha-beta, and all-beta titanium alloys. The properties and applications of these alloys are discussed with particular emphasis on their use in rocket motor cases. Other applications for titanium alloys including aircraft fasteners, air-frames, cryogenic vessels, and chemical processing equipment are also discussed. Speculation as to the future of the titanium industry is made.
