Abstract

In this paper only the recent progress in the theory of thin film coalescence due to crystal-lite surface migration is reviewed. The theoretical analysis applies to thin discontinuous films for which the mass of the deposit remains constant. Several models for crystalline surface migration are discussed and the kinetics of mobility coalescence are analyzed by considering the process as a two-dimensional analogue to the coagulation in colloid suspensions. Some of the theoretical results are compared with existing experimental data.
