Abstract
In this paper it has been illustrated how modern mathematical developments and numerical computations in classical nonlinear dynamics indicate that classical systems ofn degrees of freedom are in general nonergodic since, in agreement with KAM theorem, they haven − 1 independent integrals besides energy. As these integrals are nonsmooth, they can influence thermodynamic functions in a rather indirect way.
