Abstract

Studies of double photoionization of atoms produced by single photon impact have greatly improved our knowledge of electron correlation processes. Such experimental studies have also revealed interesting phenomena to challenge theoreticians. This brief review will cover incident photon energies in the range from about 40 to 254 eV. Some of the areas that will be covered include autoionization of double excited neutral states into the double ionization continuum and threshold measurements ranging from the Wannier law to post-collision interactions.
