Abstract

Abstract * I should like to express my thanks to statisticians and other experts in Government departments and elsewhere and to colleagues at the London School of Economics for their comments on a draft of this paper. The paper in its final form is entirely my responsibility and the comments made in no way commit the experts who kindly gave me advice. This article describes the main developments in the sampling of human populations in Great Britain during the last five years. Changes in methodology, as well as new applications, are included.
